A clean home is a happy home-but that might be just my O.C.Ds talking…
In any case a clean and uncluttered home is good for the soul and that’s an unarguable fact, o.c.ds or not.
We spend a lot of time organizing our planners and our well-currated wardrobes but our cleaning supplies are never a priority when we get into the all-mighty Marie Kondo mood, because they are disposable, they are not fun to deal with and oh well, who has time for that, right?
I have always been very serious about the concept of minimalism -even before it was cool, but to be honest it wasn’t up until recently that I started contemplating the idea of a neatly organized,treat-for-the-eyes,cleaning supplies cabinet.
I gathered a few cute containers, made a list of all the products I actually need and use, and once I got super hyped about it (yes, there is such a thing as getting super hyped about cleaning supplies, excuse me for finding joy in the simplest of things) I even started developing a couple of DIY solutions to replace my store-bought products with awesome homemade versions.
Here’s what I’ve learned from my current endeavours:
Get a bunch of stackable clear, air tight containers, same design, different sizes. They will look so neat together that cleaning the bathroom will seem like less of a chore. Lightweight, clear containers are perfect for the job as you can instantly see what’s inside. User friendly is the way to go.
Get a designated caddy or a large tray for easy access.
This way you’ll be able to pull out and carry around the house all your supplies in one go. Not to mention how cute everything looks, neatly displayed on a white clean tray.
Stash your cleaning cloths…
…brushes, wipes, gloves and sponges in a clear container, within sight and for easy reach to streamline the search for the most reached for items when something spills and you have nearly zero time to deal with it.
Simplify the concept.
You only need a couple of cleaning solutions to meet your demands and you might as well D.I.Y them like a boss. As a chef,I truly enjoy the process of developing original recipes so I played around with a few different ingredients so that you won’t have to.
The consistency of this one is up to you and depends on the products you are using. It’s a great alternative to the store-bought cleaners and just as good if not better!
A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ZAK!DESIGNS FOR PROVIDING THE CUTEST AND MOST PRACTICAL STORAGE SOLUTIONS
Store in an air-tight container and use once a week (or every couple of weeks) to clean your brushes. I use a brush-egg to scrub mine which I now keep on top of my cleaner container for easy access.
Simple yet efficient eco-friendly bits and little lifestyle changes that will have a positive impact on your day-to-day life while being savvy and environmentally friendly at the same time. I bet you are starting to get surprisingly hyped about organizing your cleaning products now, aren’t you?
