Is it art or is it just the act of capturing a moment in time, in its actuality?

Whichever school of thought you belong to, it’s undeniable that photography has become a massive part of our lives today, and the choice of subject is largely irrelevant. We all take pictures. Lots and lots of them.

For me it’s equally technical and artistic.

To master it you need a generous dose of both.

As an ambassador of FASHION POTLUCK, I get to research and write about all sorts of interesting topics. When they asked me to create a series of photography guides I was thrilled. I got to share my knowledge and passion with you guys and hopefully help you become better and more aware everyday photographers.

Skip the fancy equipment, skip the overly complicated tutorials and just click on the each one of the images below to get started.

I generally see photography as a means of capturing moments, but I am often photographing my children. Although when I am taking photos of my recipes for my blog, it’s completely artistic.

That’s so awesome you were asked to write a series on photography. I’ve been diving into composition lately and it is hard to work on that. It’s not always something that comes naturally to me.

I think it means both. It depends how you feel and what you do with it. Doing for others for like family photos I think is capturing a moment obviously, but I think if anything else like landscapes, objects or anything if that sort, is art.

It’s definitely one of those things that you’ve got to practise a lot! Either way, I love it and I love capturing precious moments.
