Please describe the band in a single sentence.
Glemsel is a black metal band from Copenhagen, Denmark, that has existed since 2019.
What’s your latest project and what are you working on right now?
We just released an album, “Forfader” through Vendetta Records. The reception of it has been great, and we have a few shows in the calendar in the near future. Meanwhile we started working on new material, but we take our time writing and enjoying the process with no set deadlines.
How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
We aim to make our music emotionally loaded, but it’s up to people themselves to interpret it and feel however they want to. Personally we find our music to have both raw black metal and melancholic vibes – so feeling melancholic could be an obvious answer.
It’s possible for us to put a lot of emotion into the music and lyrics, though for the most part we simply appreciate playing music.
Major influences: Who put you on this path?
We listen to a wide variety of bands and genres, and wouldn’t claim to have a singular response to this. Of like-minded bands we like Solbrud, Ligfærd, Akhlys and others – including the classics from the nineties, of course.
If you had to flee the country as a band, where would you choose to live?
Norway.
What’s the ‘wow factor’ that makes YOU decide which songs to keep, record and release?
We scrap anything that fails to touch us in an emotional or aggressive manner. We don’t have a specific ‘wow factor’ – when a song comes together it’s a mixture of several components that makes the composition come to life.
What’s the most hilarious band memory you can think of?
Like any group of friends, we have a lot of hilarious memories.
What would be the title of the band’s biography?
The Glemsel Biography … we guess.
What’s the next milestone you’d like to achieve as a band?
We would love to go for a European tour at some point in the near future – that would be the next milestone for us after this successful release.
