I may work a lot,I may be sleep deprived and rarely go out,but I do take my gigs pretty seriously.
Here is why:
Play is serious business.
Taking some proper time every once in a while to do things that you really enjoy offers a lot of fulfillment. This will prepare you to face other responsibilities in life that may not be as fun but are still important to accomplish to create balance.
your body releases anti-stress hormones when you are havng fun, which enables you to relax, especially if you are taking part in activities that requires physical energy. You can strengthen not only your mind, but your body as well.
It’s a great way to socialize.
If you spend a large amount of your day alone, allowing yourself to slow down a bit just for a few good hours and spend some time with friends/family is a great way to bond and build even stronger relationships. Not that you necessarily have to include other people to your ‘fun’ time but sometimes it does help to relax and unwind and also learn more about those people.
Each of us has our own different way to have fun. I like quality over quantity in that area of my life as well.
I like working hard, and then ‘earning’ my ‘play’ time. Like going to a nice restaurant once instead of eating out every other day– Or having a blast at a Marky Ramone gig and waking up bruised and sore,’cause that’s how you should feel after a true punk rock concert.
Thank you Marky,we all had a blast. Happy 40th anniversary.
