29 Mar Pro Wrestling | 5 Questions with a Pro-Wrestler and why You should Give it a Go
I was recently invited to watch and write about TWT’s pro-wrestling show, in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Why me you might ask. Got me. But it was fun and new (to me) and interesting nontheless.
I’m not one to say no to new experiences so I found mychelf watching the show, knowing nothing, wanting to know everything. I was provided with a good amount of information to get me started and of course I’ve done my own research as well.
– Here are 5 reasons why you should give it a go –
It’s pure entertainment.
Choreographed and immensely dramatized a pro-wrestling show will keep you on your toes unlike any other show.
Competitive sports and Theatrical Performance.
You get the best of both worlds
Verisimilitude.
It’s a scripted event, it’s staged and performed by highly trained athletes so that you’ll be masterfully tricked into willingly believe it might not be so.
Intimacy.
Pro-wrestling takes place on a thrust stage. Meaning there’s interaction with the audience and you’ll feel like you’re part of the story line.
Babyfaces and Heels.
A.k.a the good guys and the bad guys. You’ll find a character to love and a few to inevitably hate as well. And you’ll find a character that you’re able to relate to because afterall, these personas are just amplified versions of me and you.
And the part you’ve all been waiting for..
1 If you came with a warning label what would it say?
“Don’t ask if it is fake…”
2 Ok let’s get serious. Talk us into liking pro-wrestling.
Pro wrestling SUCKS… hah…
Well, no, Pro wrestling is, in my opinion, the ultimate form of combined sports and entertainment! No other sport in the known universe is as much intresting as PRO WRESTLING! If the only reason not to like it is because you think it is fake then why would you enjoy watching movies, series and theater plays. It is just a different kind of entertainment with real on stage live action, pain, blood, sweat and sometimes maybe tears!!!!
3 What does a pro-wrestler eat on a daily basis?
We are athletes so we feed ourselves as such.
4 What’s a common misconception about pro-wrestling?
People usually say that it is “fake”, but truth is that it is SCRIPTED! The pain is real folks! We hurt our selves on a daily basis so that we can entertain the audience! You should appreciate that! If not, then stop wasting our time calling it “FAKE”!
5 The world is about to end and you can only save one kind of training. Which one?
Cardio! Above everything, if your heart cannot follow your brain then you are dead anyway!
Make sure to check the official TWT website or Facebook page.
A heartfelt thank you to the team for having me and to KRATERON for working with me on this post.
xoxo,
Chelf

Posted at 14:05h, 29 MarchWhat a unique post! I’m not a wrestling fan, but can’t deny the physical prowess of the wrestlers and the flare in theatrics! I can appreciate all the work that goes into a production and have certainly thought how cool it would be to be a part of it 🙂

Posted at 14:52h, 29 MarchWoah! Now that is something, even with the show being scripted , the wrestlers actually fight and those hard blows must be so painful!

Posted at 16:43h, 29 MarchHere in Mexico, wrestling (lucha libre) is also a very popular sport. And wrestlers here also hate it when people say it’s fake! Personally, I have great respect for wrestlers like Krateron. They’re dedicated professional athletes, nothing less.

Posted at 17:52h, 29 MarchMy daughter is a huge wrestling fan, and I admit I enjoy watching it. Sure, it’s scripted but it’s not easy, these wrestlers train hard, work hard, and face real injury. And it is so much fun to watch!
the_chelf@yahoo.gr
Posted at 18:04h, 29 Marchthey do train hard indeed and they make it seem so easy. I have so much respect for them.

Posted at 18:31h, 29 MarchInterviewing a wrestler could not have been easy. At least his answers were straight to the point. Ha! You also did a nice job writing about this sport.

Posted at 19:01h, 29 MarchIt was actually a pleasure. It went so smooth and we really hit it off. And thank you, glad to hear you think I did a nice job, I had to start from scratch and research took me a couple of weeks 🙂

Posted at 15:34h, 30 MarchCool interview with a pro wrestler. I had never heard any of them give that view of wrestling being fake. Given that they are entertaining us and being hurt in the process of that, we should appreciate that. Great post.
