Aging Well

Aging Well

Age today is all about attitude, not the number of candles on a cake.

As I grow older,  I notice a shift and a revolution in the definition of what it means to be ‘older’.

We start to celebrate our maturity and embrace our age as we have come to realize that there is no cliff from which we fall when we reach a certain age. Boundaries are being redrawn and people of all ages are embracing life as never before.
Besides individual growth and perspective, for some time now, the has been a cultural shift in how society views aging.
People are feeling free to mature and age on their own terms, uncompromisingly so. It was about time to start ditching the stereotypical norms and cultivate a culture of aging gracefully, be comfortable in one’s skin and disconnect the concept of beauty from the concept of age.

It’s not irrelevant but one can exist without the other. Even the notoriously youth-obsessed industry of beauty and fashion is starting to embrace and demonstrate a melting pot of glorious silver greys and not-so-flawless (or meticulously airbrushed) skin. It’s all about owning it. It’s all about embodying a timeless appeal.

It could also be all about not
caring at all. Read that again.
Why do we even have to care about the effect of age on our looks anyways?

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Mark Twain.

The ever-growing industry of beauty will beg to differ; it’s all about making a profit. But it’s not our responsibility to fund that, is it? Let’s ponder on that for a minute.

I’d like to explore the versatility of this new era. Figure out my own interpretation with a clear focus on elegance, and be transformed into the person I’d like to be. The older I get the easier that gets to achieve and I love it.

It’s the life in your years that counts, not the years in your life.

The trick is growing up without growing old.

Casey Stengel

It’s unrealistic to expect that we will not change over time. Both body and mind. But change is good and trying to hold on to the past is not beneficial.

I would love to hear your thoughts.
