January is full of new beggings and I love setting goals and intentions for the new season. Often that involves reevaluating my priorities, revisiting old goals and past tactics to see what worked for me and what needs a good reset. It breathes new life into my mindset and sets the tone for new successful endeavors.
These are the things I aim to refresh in the new year.
My workplace.
I have been working from my home studio for years now and it’s one of the best things that ever happened to me as a business owner and entrepreneur. But since my little Chelfdom grew in a beautiful, organic way, I think it’s time to get more people involved (more about that later), hire help, and to do that, we are going to need more space. Stepping up my game as work takes up the bigger portion of my days means I need to get better at creating good boundaries between my creative practice and the rest of my life so that I can focus better. So, I need to find a space outside of my home to create and share my work. I have developed a space budget and I am looking at different options and rentals.
Wish me luck!
New employees.
It’s important that small businesses get the timing right when hiring new employees, and now I feel that the timing is perfect for me to get more people involved so that we, as a team, can take up more projects and improve my work-life balance at the same time. It is financially feasible and there is enough additional work to warrant taking on a new employee(s). I feel that in order to continue the pace of growth, I need to scale up my business by hiring new workers. It took me a long time to determine the exact set of skills that I am looking for in an employee. Now I have a better understanding of what I need.
Stay tuned, I will be hanging up my ‘We’re hiring” sign as soon as I find the right studio!
Goal and intention setting is what I want to be doing at the start of each season, it’s not necessarily a new year thing. It allows me to set myself up for across-the-board, holistic success, and you know what? If it doesn’t work out in the end, at least I tried my best.
